Hypnosis is used by millions of people every day for general health and wellness.
qualified hypnosis practitioners to assist them address specific physical, emotional,
mental and performance issues.
Many major academic medical centers around the world research hypnosis, use
it as a complementary therapy in conjunction with traditional medical and surgical
care, and have included it in their integrated medicine programs.
You have experienced the hypnotic state more times than you know. The hypnotic
state is characterized by electrical brain activity of the alpha and theta brainwave
types. Every normal human being passes through these states on the way into and
out of normal sleep.
You have experienced the hypnotic state if you've ever become so engrossed in a
book, movie, or activity that other stimuli, both internal and external, cease to enter
your conscious awareness.
You have experienced the hypnotic state if you've ever driven your car and you
suddenly notice you've arrived at home but cannot recall the details of the drive.
So, hypnosis will not be new to you, but consciously choosing to enter the state
might be. Don't worry...entering hypnosis is easy with the help of your hypnotist's
expert guidance. In fact it is widely believed that all hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis
because you are always in control. Your hypnotherapist is your teacher and guide.
To be successful you just have to be of normal intelligence and willing to follow your
hypnotist's instructions.
When you call to make your appointment, you will be asked a series of questions
to determine how the hypnotherapist can best help you, how many appointments you
may need and how frequent you appointments will be. You will then be sent, via
email, a number of forms to read, prepare and return prior to your appointment.
On the day of your appointment, wear comfortable clothing. Arrive on time so you
have the full benefit of your appointment time. You will be greeted at reception.
Payment will be collected prior to your session. You will then be accompanied to the
therapy room.
In the therapy room, you with your hypnotherapist, will review the intake forms, sign
the client agreement, discuss your hypnosis goals and review the hypnosis plan. The
hypnotist will ask specific questions to aid in developing the most effective
suggestions for your desired change. Before you are hypontized, the hypnotist will
answer any questions you may have and explain some facts about hypnosis. When
all the discussion is done, you will be asked to settle into the hypnosis chair for the
remainder of your session.
Once in the chair, you will be guided into hypnosis, the work done, and then you
will be emerged back to a fully alert state. Though your role will be an active one,
most clients report feeling calm, relaxed and refreshed during and following their
hypnosis session. The style of hypnosis used requires that the client be willing to
participate fully and to cooperatively follow instructions. It is not a passive process.
This is the most effective approach to achieving lasting, rapid results.
Before you leave the office, you may be provided with instructions or materials
for activities to be completed prior to your next session. Most issues require more
than one session to reach resolution. Sessions for adults are usually 90 minutes in
duration, to ensure we get the most done at each appointment. The number of
required sessions depends on the complexity of the issue, the ability of the client to
fully engage, the client's willingness to do the work required between sessions and
ultimately the progress made.
Most clients report some changes immediately, but most clients will notice
progressive shifts in thoughts, feelings, beliefs, attitudes, behaviours and symptoms
occuring over the course of the scheduled sessions. They report that they've
suddenly experienced the 'mind click' and they know they have changed for good.
